At Southern New Jersey Oral Surgery, we strive to do what is best for our patients. That is the reason we stay on top of the best imaging technologies.
This technology helps us accurately diagnose and monitor dental conditions. When two-dimensional X-rays do not provide the images that we require, we use Dental Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CT).
Dental Cone Beam CT is a specialized X-ray that provides a clear, three-dimensional image of all vital structures within a patient’s mouth.
We can get a closer look at the teeth of a patient, soft and hard tissues, nerve pathways, and even bone condition.
“When two-dimensional X-rays do not provide the images that we require, we use Dental Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CT).
We use Dental Cone Beam CT to better diagnose areas in the nasal cavity, sinuses, nerve canals, and jaws of patients. When our patients are experiencing pain, we sometimes use Dental Cone Beam CT to help us identify the exact location where the pain is coming from.
The Dental Cone Beam CT is also vital in determining treatment options for our patients with more complex dental problems. Three dimensional images from the Dental Cone Beam can help the Oral Surgeon accurately position the dental implants.
These images from Dental Cone Beam also locate vital structures during impacted teeth surgery.
This type of advanced imaging is useful in determining the tooth orientation and bone structure of the patient, as well as pointing out precise location of jaw tumors.
Dental Cone Beam CT imaging is painless, accurate, and non-invasive. While this technology is useful and provides numerous benefits, it is important to note that we usually resort to this type of procedure when the results of traditional Dental X-rays prove to be inadequate.
Cone Beam CT scan, the patient will need to stand completely still for 20 seconds, to scan the specific area of the oral cavity. Our Oral Surgeon will view the images, and quickly diagnose the condition. He will then begin the discussions of treatment options at Southern New Jersey Oral Surgery.
